Afghanistan, & The Supreme Court's Big Gift To Vice President Harris
The Supreme Court just handed the Democrats much needed insurance for 2024
Joe Biden’s largely ignored border crisis seems a fitting first act to his debacle of a withdraw from Afghanistan. But if the Supreme Court’s decision ordering the Biden Administration to enforce Trump’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy at all foreshadows the President’s possible good luck in the future, you might want to take a beat before christening grandpa Joe, Jimmy 2.0.
Let’s be honest, we all know that President Biden’s good luck has been mostly manufactured by a biased press, determined to prop him up to move and keep Trump out. And since the Taliban rushed back into power like Rolling Thunder, reconquering ground American’s have been fighting and dying on for 20 years, in just one weekend, it appeared that the usually fawning national press suddenly rediscovered some of its long lost journalistic integrity. But if you believe that, you are further gone than President Biden after 4:30 PM on a Friday night in Wilmington.
The establishment press learned an important lesson from its constant barrage on Trump. During the Trump Administration, American’s developed a high tolerance for failure (or the appearance of failure), and a veracious metabolism for digesting and dispensing with drama. What we are seeing now is the first time the media has allowed such drama to be witnessed by a large swath of the American people during Biden’s Presidency.
But Biden himself said in his recent ABC interview with George Stephanopoulos, that the chaos resulting from his botched withdraw was always priced into his decision:
"So for you, that was always priced into the decision?" Stephanopoulos asked.
"Yes," replied Biden. 1
As usual, Biden then offered some freshly tossed word salad to try and amend his answer, which ABC news left in, despite cutting many minutes of unflattering statements2 made by the President from the interview.
"Now exactly what happened, I've not priced in," he said. "But I knew that they're going to have an enormous -- Look, one of the things we didn't know is what the Taliban would do in terms of trying to keep people from getting out. What they would do. What are they doing now? They're cooperating, letting American citizens get out, American personnel get out, embassies get out, et cetera, but they're having -- we're having some more difficulty having those who helped us when we were in there."3
What does this have to do with the Supreme Court’s decision? A lot more than you might think. The wholesale shift of national news coverage (left & right) to the Afghanistan withdraw has left less click-worthy domestic issues like immigration, gasping for air. By the time the withdraw is complete, the court’s ruling will be ancient news and so will Democrat’s screaming about the court violation of the separation of powers. Protecting the border is not a foreign policy issue and Democrat’s know it, but they have to raise a false flag of manufactured outrage to mollify the Democratic base.
And to that end, the court gave the Biden Administration all the political cover to do what is necessary to fix the border crisis - enforce Trump’s successful policy. The Biden Administration can now enforce the heavily politicized policy without being hammered for it by his Trump deranged base.
When the mainstream press eventually pivots back to covering domestic issues, the response from the Democratic base and the media will be as follows:
‘It wasn’t President Biden’s fault that he has to enforce Trump’s racist immigration policy. He had no choice. What is he supposed to do? Disobey a ruling by the Supreme Court?’
But as we have seen from the Biden’s decision to ignore the Supreme Court blocking the CDC’s eviction moratorium, his respect for the separation of powers is conditional.4 President Biden will obey Supreme Court orders that offer him a political advantage and disobey those that don’t - and the Supreme Court’s decision removed the orange stain from Biden’s enforcement of Remain in Mexico.
Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by the national media’s sudden criticism of Biden over the Afghanistan withdraw. They are only beating up Biden to regain some of the audience and legitimacy they lost post Trump, because they are going to need more of both in the future.
When the withdraw is done, and the pictures and video’s of people falling from planes are no longer making the rounds on Twitter and Facebook, you will see a swath of praise heralding Biden’s foreign policy chops. But most importantly, he and his VP will receive high marks for being the ticket that finally ended the war in Afghanistan. At once, VP Harris will be able to claim credit for the ending of the Afghanistan war, while avoiding responsibility for the botched withdraw.
The Democratic Party and the national media are betting big on the response they conditioned into existence during the Trump years. Both are betting that the American metabolism for drama and incompetence will consume and discard Biden’s mishandled Afghanistan withdraw - with the hope that American’s will quickly return to not being able to find the blood stained country on a map.
When the time comes, the national media will return to its natural, obsequious state of existence when it comes to Biden. The botched withdraw will be memory holed and the counter-narrative will replace the truth - with one main beneficiary.
In the coming months you will see a magical transformation of the border crisis - all credit be unto Vice President Kamala Harris. The foe furor over the Supreme Court’s violation of the separation of powers will fade out of existence, giving way to genuflecting before the Vice President’s handling of the border crises - a crisis created by the Biden Administration, itself.
But even if that doesn’t work, none of this is about Biden. Biden is and always has been expendable - a means to an ends - and come 2024, that ends will be more apparent.
It was no accident that Vice President Kamala Harris leaked that she was the last one in the room before Biden made his decision to withdraw from Afghanistan, and then quickly left the country during the withdraw. Nor is it an accident that she is in charge of fixing the southern border crisis - a crisis that will now be solved by following the Supreme Court’s order to enforce Trump’s Remain in Mexico policy.
Don’t be fooled by Democrat outrage coming from the establishment media right now. This is a case that Democrats and most especially VP Kamala Harris, wanted to lose.
